The use of purpose bred species like forage millets and sorghums, offer fast growing feed over the peak summer period. Both products need to be planted in spring only, once set soil temperatures have been achieved. They are very quick to reach grazing height and recover very quickly from grazing. Both can be grazed, ensiled or made into hay. Forage sorghums need to be managed correctly with strict grazing heights before stock are introduced. Forage millet has no animal health issues and is safe to graze at any stage.
